Every body has a story. As our bodies change, so do our stories, and taking time to craft and share compassionate, informed versions of our stories can bring healing and wholeness individually and communally. After an active childhood and young adult life as a dancer and movement professional, H Ashley recently found themselves experiencing serious physical repercussions post surgery (CW: medical trauma).
In this workshop, H will speak to living with an intermittent, invisible disability and the changes to their relationship with their body that have continued to surprise and challenge them. H is passionate about inclusivity in movement spaces and raising awareness about how our society too often falls short in thinking and acting creatively and strategically with accessibility and care. Ellie will lead us through yoga inspired by H’s story, and we will reflect on our own body stories. None of us get through the day without assistance, and we do better when we all do better. Let’s reflect, move and flow together in community, in our bodies.
